Unfussy and unpretentious. Love it. Used it a lot. Generally hate cookbooks.
This cookbook is amazing (and I generally do not like cookbooks) and I basically want to (or did) make almost everything. The ingredients aren’t fussy and the prep is generally pretty simple. There’s no feeling of this book being targeted at a certain demographic only because there are lots of practical suggestions for people that do not have time for fancy stuff they couldn’t find if they wanted to. Let’s just say I live in a very rural area and haven’t had any problems finding necessary ingredients via big-box pick-ups during the pandemic. Best thing is – my 8 year old pretty much loves everything I’ve made from this book! Win win! Our families hands down favorite? Sweet potato toasts. If you’re needing some ideas for your either simplifying your menu, cleaning up the diet you’re used to, or just want quick things that you can throw together with very little planning due to the low number of ingredients then this is your cookbook. See how many recipes I’ve bookmarked since I’ve gotten this? And I can’t eat dairy, soy, onions, beans, peppers, etc. I have a very picky dietary perimeter and I can make pretty much everything in here with a possible sub here or there to avoid triggers. Seriously underpriced for how good it is.

    Start eating clean!
There are a lot of good recipes in this book to get you going on clean eating! There aren’t a lot of ingredients either in each recipe so you don’t have to have lots of ingredients on hand. Try it and hopefully the clean eating will help you loose a few pounds and get you feeling much healthier and stronger! I recommend it.

Initial Review of Book/Recipes Look Great!
While I like the overall simplicity of the recipes, I love the tips and alternatives. As any cook knows, the method of preparation can make or break the dish.

    Healthy Food Simplified!
5-Ingredient Clean Eating reminds me that eating well & healthy does not have to be complicated. Snezana seamlessly shows us that keeping it simple brings out flavors to make you want more and more! From salads to smoothies to healthy proteins to dessert style snacks, the book covers it all. I have followed Snezana on Instagram for some time now and always leave her page inspired to do better in my kitchen not just for me but my Family. Feeling grateful to have a copy of this book but also for all my exchanges with Snezana on the need for more nutritional health integration into our healthcare system!

    NOT just 5 ingredients
Misleading title. Many recipes with more than five ingredients! The only reason I bought the book was because I thought there were only five ingredients! It ranges up to 10 ingredients and I saw some also have a sauce you have to make which is even more ingredients. That being said the book format is pretty good.

    Easy to use
I like this cookbook a lot there are a bunch of recipes that I’m familiar with and then a bunch that are new to me. Also just as the title suggests they’re all 5 ingredients and super simple to make, calorie count is also included. Love it! I don’t cook ever so this is a huge help.

Great weeknight approach to whole healthy eating
This cookbook is designed for real people who prepare dinners with limited time. Ingredient lists are reasonable and widely available, and there is plenty of variety including healthy whole foods. I like their lists explaining how to stock a clean pantry and refrigerator, and advice on when you should invest in organic produce (avoid the “dirty dozen“)

Oftentimes More Than 5 Ingredients Per Recipe But Tasty Nonetheless
5 Ingredient Clean Eating Cookbook encourages the reader to “embrace a simpler, healthier lifestyle.” After months of snacking at home from stay at home orders in the time of Covid, I decided this would be a good way to incorporate healthier meals and snacks into my diet. Prior to each recipe, there is a note specifying if the recipe is dairy free, nut free, gluten free, soy free, vegetarian or vegan. It also lists prep time, cook time, and yield. At the end of each recipe the author will include either substitution tips, prep tips or serving tips. I appreciated that the author noted calories, fats, proteins, carbohydrates, fiber and sodium per serving with each recipe. The chapters include Breakfasts, Soups, Salads and Dressings, Snacks and Small Plates, Rice, Grains and Beans, Plant-Based-Meals, Poultry and Meat, Fish and Seafood, Dressings, Sauces and Marinades, and Beverages and Desserts.I made three recipes. The Lentil Bisque was very smooth and savory. I liked the fact that with minimal effort I was able to have a flavorful lunch option. I was most surprised to learn that when cooking red lentils they eventually turn into a dark goldenrod color. It was a light soup (I blended it as suggested by the author) but it was filling. The second dish I tried was the Quinoa Burrito Bowl. Very easy to put together. I really enjoyed this dish as similar to the Lentil Bisque it was light and yet filling. The dressing was bright and complimented the ingredients well. The only alteration I made to this dish was dicing the red onion than the recommended thin slices. I felt based on the ingredient it would eat easier diced. This was a great foundation/starting point that could encourage adding additional vegetables to the users preference if they choose. Lastly, I made the Baked Potato Fries with Spicy Yogurt Sauce. I enjoyed the fries but really didn’t care for the Spicy Yogurt Sauce. It was Greek yogurt and sriracha – two ingredients I enjoy but when mixed together was a little too tart/vinegary that didn’t really compliment one another or the potatoes. I enjoyed the baked sweet potatoes on their own.I found the recipes are clearly written and easy to follow. The ingredients used in the recipes are common enough to find in ones pantry or at the local supermarket. The most exotic ingredient I found was Himalayan Salt which is used in almost all of the recipes. I do have a few negatives for the book. First, the book calls itself 5 Ingredient Clean Eating – which the author defines as 5 ingredients, not including salt, pepper, oil or water. But this isn’t the case in the majority of recipes. Now don’t get me wrong it isn’t 20 ingredients per recipe but the majority of recipes are over 5 ingredients. I also found that listing spices as optional ingredients the author calls “Spice it up” is misleading. If you did not utilize these spices, the the end result is noticeably different. I’m guessing this is how the author avoided the recipe from looking significantly longer than 5 ingredients. Lastly, there is a recipe for Miso Glaze that doesn’t include Miso. It’s a soy sauce based recipe but disappointingly is called Miso Glaze. There are a handful of what I consider “throw away recipes” like Classic Cinnamon Oatmeal and Honey-Almond Greek Yogurt with Berries. Overall, I think this is a good cookbook for beginners or those in search of finding a starting point for healthy eating.
