Looking Forward to Resetting myself after a relapse
Just ordered myself a copy after reading the first chapter cause this book looks like one that will actually help me get back on track as I experienced a relapse last night after 6 years in recovery. I’m looking forward to getting back on the horse and learning to forgive myself and also to learn to use Journaling as a tool in my Recovery journey.

well written
This is a great and balanced book. It is very realistic and does not pull any punches. I think I will read this a number of times in the next year. What struck me this first time reading it was the concept of internally narrating my whole day. I think that would help me quite a bit and I’m going to try it for the rest of the day today and tomorrow. I found her discussion of craving surfing to be like many others, that technique does not work very well for me. I was really surprised by the online recommendations that she made and I did not know that Reddit had an online community. I looked it up and it looks pretty good.

An Excellent, Science Based and Practical Guide to Recovery
Loved this guide. For anyone who’s not religious but needs some guidance on becoming sober, this is an excellent starting point. It provides a lot of science based advice (with citations). Kindness and self-care are themes running through the entire guide along with excellent exercises that will help you on your road to recovery. It lays out the usefulness of AA, but offers some other options if you’re a feminist or non-religious. Highly recommend to anyone, but particularly women. And the writing is easy and accessible. Kate is a wonderful guide.

Pretty valuable guide
This book is a powerful and practical guide that has genuinely helped me navigate my journey to sobriety. The focus on understanding triggers and creating relapse prevention plans was incredibly beneficial. I found the journaling exercises at the end of each chapter particularly helpful for reinforcing the tools discussed. While it took some time to fully implement the strategies, the encouragement to keep fighting was truly inspiring.

This is such a helpful and relatable book that feels like youâre talking to a friend who understands what youâre going through. I liked the authorâs honesty about her struggles and journey to overcome her addiction. The book is a good balance of theory and practical exercises to work through. I liked the key takeaways at the end of each chapter, summarising the content and the 6 week timeline to support you through the first 6 weeks.
