Hollow handles, everything else is plastic.
When the description says metal and plastic, it means the only metal is in the handle. Even the nuts that hold the weights on are plastic. The weights themselves are hollow plastic filled with sand or something similar. Even the dumbbell handles are hollow and weigh very little compared to my other ones. This may work fine for you, but you should just be aware of what you are buying. I did not think they would be very durable so I returned them. I just feel they were poor quality.

A solid purchase. You can increment by half pounds all the way from 10 to 25 lbs. Perfect for a geezer like me. Could be more elegantly articulated but does the job.

Good, but …
They’re dumbells and they’re fine, but the only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars….other people in another review for the same product complained about the chemical smell of the handles. I didn’t notice much of a smell, but after two weeks of using them, I did develop what I can assume is a allergic contact dermatitis. Small, itchy bumps on the palms of my hands, so I cleaned them off with rubbing alcohol and added grip tape over the the handles. I used bat grip, but I would recommend others do the same with some form of grip tape
