Youth and Beauty Salad

This is the ultimate age-fighting, ultrahydrating beauty-in-a bowl salad, specifically designed to enhance your natural beauty from the inside out. Cucumbers nourish your cells, beets and carrots bring a healthy color to your cheeks, and pomegranates deliver antioxidants and keep signs of aging at bay while greens help eliminate toxins and add an extra dose of hydration for a Sakara glow. It’s all sealed with a superfood kiss of vitamin E–rich hemp seeds for skin plumping and chia for strong, glossy hair. Nurture your best self and your shining spirit will radiate your inner beauty outward.

Red Beet Burgers

This burger is designed to, like a beet, root you to the earth. The betalain pigments in beets support your liver in eliminating toxins. The enzyme family glutathione S transferases (GSTs) hooks up harmful toxins with glutathione for neutralization and elimination. We mixed these beautiful root veggies with black beans, sunflower seeds, and almonds for an extra boost of plant protein and to satisfy even your deepest hungers. Great for days when
you need to detox from the craziness of daily life and get re-grounded to the earth. Eat and repeat: Calm. Cool. Collected. I feel peace.

Superfood Pancakes with Chia-berry Compote and Lemon-cashew Crème

When we created Sakara, our intention was to provide nutrition and joy. We didn’t want anything to be off-limits, especially a quintessential breakfast option like pancakes. In the spirit of balance, we’ve created the perfect blend of indulgence and sustenance: a piping-hot tall stack loaded with plant-derived protein, with layers of fresh berry and chia compote and creamy, citrus-spiked crème slathered in between, like a breakfast-y naked cake.

Sedona Sunset Margarita

Sunsets are a magical moment. A marking of time, and an energetic shift in the day. This margarita is an ode to our Sedona roots, where the margarita is the unofficial cocktail and where the sunsets over the red rocks remind us of the possibility of something greater than ourselves. As we know that anything you put into your body can be a vehicle for extra nutrients—cocktails included—we’ve added a dash of turmeric for its anti-inflammatory and health benefits. We use this cocktail potion as a tonic to enter the evening hours with a peaceful body and mind. If you can’t juice your own turmeric root, one teaspoon of ground turmeric will work just as well. Simply increase the orange juice to 3 tablespoons.

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice and add the mezcal, turmeric, orange juice, agave nectar, and the juice of 1/2 lime. Shake well.On a small plate, mix together the salt and ground turmeric.Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass, then dip the rim in the salt and turmeric mixture. Serve the margarita over ice.

Garnish with a strip of orange zest, a lime wedge, and visions of gorgeous pink and purple skies.

Makes 1 cocktail ¼ cup (60 ml) mezcal 2 tablespoons juiced turmeric root 2 tablespoons juiced turmeric root 1 tablespoon agave nectar 1 lime Lime wedges 1 teaspoon coarse Himalayan salt 1 teaspoon ground turmeric

Simply love this book, the recipes and the creativity. Cannot wait to keep preparing these dishes!
I have tried some of the Sakara products but not their meal delivery plan as its not exactly conducive for a whole family nor someone that travels as much as I do; so the chance to replicate their clean eating recipes for the bargain price of this book was a compelling reason to purchase! This book is, quite frankly amazing. If you own many plant based books, you will quickly begin to recognize the same recipes replicated over and over again with maybe tiny tweaks to make them unique. This is certainly not the case in this book – the recipes are largely unique, and kudos for the fact that the vast majority of the ingredients are things you could find in any major supermarket. The book is also bright, fresh and full of colorful pictures of the featured dishes. Its part story book and pa recipe book as it begins with the authors stories, the story behind Sakara and some basic detail about the “eat clean, play dirty” mantra…..which just note, you will need to be a lover of your greens as this lifestyle emphasizes six to eight cups of greens a day but does come full of suggestions to getting them into your diet. The chapters then include breakfast, lunch, dinner, dressings, desserts and cocktails . There are so many enticing recipes. Nothing too complicated and most if not all can be accomplished without necessitating expensive equipment or crazy amounts of prep time.I plan on routinely making the Green bars – packed with seeds, sweetened with fruit and taken up a notch with Chlorella. The salads will be my go to this summer and both the salads and home made dressings are very easy to prepare. I love the Taco salad with Walnut Chorizo as it avoids using fake meats and ups the protein with the nuts. The Red Beet burgers are almost a make your own “Beyond Meat” burger and pretty simple to prepare. There are some heavier main meals which would be ideal for the cooler weather and a wide range of desserts and the strawberry ‘Chia-sicles’ will be a go to for me as we are already hitting 90 degrees and what a neat way to keep the kids healthy. It ends with some beautiful cocktails which will be perfect for the upcoming summer months!Simply love this book, the recipes and the creativity. Cannot wait to keep preparing these dishes!

Complex but doable and satisfying recipes
I really like this book. I understand how people are criticizing it for the hard to acquire / specialty ingredients, since even my local Whole Foods didn’t have some of them. But the food lifestyle they are promoting isn’t that common, so one shouldn’t expect to find everything for every recipe at the local Kroger. I love the message they are promoting though- plant based diets don’t have to be bland or boring, and it can be exciting to experiment with different, healthy ingredients, and make them your normal for a healthier gut and body. I made 3 of their recipes so far – the nut “bread”, the soba noodle dinner and the detox salad. The bread of course was dense and chewy. Not sweet, but just what I expected. Would be great toasted with some almond butter or apple butter on it for breakfast. The soba noodle dish was fantastic and so much flavor and filling. The detox salad was also really awesome, so much flavor with the arugula, grapefruit and golden beets. The sauces and textures seem to make the recipes. I’m really looking forward to making more of them. It is a big effort to make the recipes though. They are not quick, maybe an hour or more each. But most make 4 portions, and enough for leftovers. If you love plant based meals with complex flavors and textures, and want to branch out with new ingredients and incorporating “super foods”, definitely try this out. I wasn’t disappointed.

    Highly Recommend!
The Sakara cookbook has delicious recipes and introduces a playful attitude toward food and healthy eating.I have a lot of food allergies/sensitivities, and I am always looking for good recipes to promote wellness. I stumbled upon Sakara a few months ago as I was starting to implement a more plant-based diet to keep up with my demanding 80+ hour/wk schedule. I was hoping to find food that worked well with my digestive system and gave me energy and focus. I was so excited to find that Sakara was coming out with a cookbook because I couldn’t afford the meal subscription service. The recipes are delicious and fairly easy if you have experience cooking. It also provides a good basic knowledge of adaptogens and “superfoods.” However, it would be easy to get overwhelmed if you aren’t used to cooking from scratch or experimenting with new ingredients.I recommend this book for everyone as this way of eating has helped me maintain a healthy digestive system, increased my energy and overall well-being, and expanded my capacity for productivity because it has helped restore my gut health by focusing on “healing” foods. The recipes take a little time, but if you’re used to cooking for yourself it won’t be an issue. If you are a beginner, I recommend making incremental changes so you don’t get overwhelmed. You’ll still get lots of health benefits by leaving out the adaptogens, if they overwhelm you. You can also find all of them on Amazon and order in bulk to cut down on cost and frustration in the grocery store. This book promotes playful learning and cooking, so have fun and know that it takes time to learn new ingredients. It makes cooking this way fun and a continual learning experience.Whatever stage you’re in, I highly recommend this book! You will undoubtedly feel and look amazing!

sehr schön fotografiertes lifestyle-kochbuch, mir sind die rezepte zu ausgefallen und zu kompliziert, habe noch nie etwas nachgekocht – aber es ist so hübsch
