Think of all the moments you “lose”: stuck in traffic, standing in line, waiting for a download. And think of all the moments you “waste”: working when you’re not focused, or fiddling with your phone. What if each of these moments offered you an extraordinary opportunity?
In One-Moment Meditation, now published in eight languages, Martin Boroson distills the philosophy of time into a simple form of meditation that you can do anywhere, anytime. It begins with an exercise that takes just one minute per day. With practice, this takes less and less time, until it only takes a moment. Then each and every moment gives you a chance to reduce stress, refresh your mind, and open yourself to new possibilities.
This unique approach to meditation was featured as a thirty-day series for stress reduction on Oprah.com. Playful, profound, and above all, practical, One-Moment Meditation teaches you that inner peace is not a distant goal reserved for saints and sages, and it doesn’t take a lot of time: it only takes a moment.
“It’s hard to overestimate how helpful this technique could be.” — Psychologies magazine
“This gem of a book is a marvelous launching pad for anyone who wants to rest in the now, the only time there is.” — Larry Dossey, M.D., author of Reinventing Medicine
“Martin Boroson’s fantastic book … is all about learning to condense the practice of meditation into these fleeting moments. And about how, from a certain perspective, a sequence of fleeting moments are all we ever really have anyway.” — Oliver Burkeman, The Guardian

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. Distills 2500+ years of philosophy of meditation into a single, small book
The concept is ground-breaking! Practice a single minute of meditation, fit this into your day here and there, use it in times of stress, and in short order, you will find that lasting inner peace we all seek, and for which we’ve tried so many methods before… without success. I’ve honestly been calmer and happier since doing this for just a few months. There has been plenty of stress and struggle yet I take things in stride more since doing this. The companion app is engaging with simple, straightforward illustrations.REVISED REVIEW:I’ve had the app and this book, which I’ve reread many times, for years now. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone I meet all the time. If anyone is interested in mindfulness or meditation or thinks they “don’t get it” or “can’t meditate,” I say, “Oh, get this book and download the app.” Simple enough to just start with this, the insights continue to build as I use this in my daily life. I have changed, for the better, as the result of this book and its principles.

    Universal, shareable, practical
Martin’s book contains universal techniques that are highly shareable and practical, whether you are looking to deal with stress more effectively, find better focus, or derive greater enjoyment from life. I’ve shared copies with half a dozen friends and always have a couple spare copies on hand to share with folks I care about. Well worth the investment.

    Demystifying Meditation
I really enjoyed this book. I like the idea that the writer is a professional and I like the explanations given for the simple exercises. One of the issues with meditation is the mystique that it is often shrouded in by spiritual types. Meditation really isn’t a mystery, nor is it a marathon of self-discipline. I particularly like that last message in this book. He demystifies some of the ideas in his own way.

    Body and soul nourished!
It’s one of the books I keep on re-reading. Very easy to follow yet I feel the nourishment or difference, in my body and soul, when I practice the exercises suggested.

    Can You Find One Minute?
I’ve had a regular meditation practice for 15 years, but I hear all the time that people are “too busy” to meditate.Let’s set aside the issue of whether or not this is really true.Martin Boroson starts out with one minute of meditation. Everyone has a minute. No one can say that they can’t find one minute to settle into a peaceful healing space. A minute after they get back from the restroom, a minute before or after a phone call or before they go to lunch. As people get more comfortable with one minute, he encourages them to find one minute several times a day. And he weans them from a timer by having them count their breaths. If I know that I take ten breaths in a minute of meditation, I can repeat that minute, give or take, anywhere. We all wait in line–at the cash machine, at the store–and now we can turn those found minutes into practice. As we get more and more comfortable with that space, Martin takes us down to one breath meditation and finally one moment meditation. And each step of the way, we can feel that yes, in that short time, we have entered a meditative space. This is a short book, but in addition to the instruction, there are great pointers to how some of the assumptions that we make about life are quite flawed. Just seeing through these assumptions is worth the price of the book.

    Excellent resource for improving health
I find the information in Boroson’s book One-Moment Meditation to be very easy to read and absorb and a great tool in teaching my meditation class. Each member has their own copy to follow at home. Meditation is essential to our health and the instructions are a good start in learning to meditate. Especially now learning about the portable moment and will soon be reading about the emergency moment. I would recommend this book to anyone who is having any illness or stress or who just wants to prevent illnesses and stress.

This book was highly recommended to me by my boss
This book was highly recommended to me by my boss. I’m sorry to say I couldn’t get past the first few pages and put it down with the plan to give it another try. My sister came to visit and she saw it. She mentioned she had intended to read it but hadn’t had the chance. I immediately gave it to her and she started to read it later that night. She quickly finished it and love it. Bottom line is it must be a good book. I just couldn’t get into it. Based on my sisters review I would recommend this book

What a Difference 1-Moment Can Make
This book was recommended to me by a friend because I, as many people, seem to rush around a bit too much. I got this book and started practicing what he teaches, and it has made such a difference. To slow down and take that one-minute and get present is such a gift to myself AND to those I interact with. It has enhanced my clarity and creativity. I recommended it to another friend who has also thanked me deeply for turning him on to it. Highly recommended if you are a busy person and also love to be connected to Something Higher….

Meditazione on-the-go.

The techniques in this book keep coming back to me, and they work. Maybe not in a moment, but certainly in a few moments!
