    Amazing, hopeful and resonating
I am not the person that believes whatever the doctors says, I like to make a research myself, because after all medicine books are based on investigations of other professionals. See how some people life changed consulting more than one professional. I invite people to read, and investigate. I saw a book related but it was a brand that wanted to sell me a product and oil basically. It was the best thing since here you have mora than one book, and I found some hope towards my lack of elasticity. Under the investigation backed by ten years of experience, yes I look forward to keep learning more from other books. Another thing is the importance of connection between body and mind. We need to be more aware that we can’t get stability if this two are not synchronized. Yes meditation is a big part of it as well. This one goes with me everywhere to help more people.

great book to understand your body
This was a great book to help me understand my body and my stressors. I’ve been dealing with a lot of personal trauma and childhood trauma that I feel like has impacted and affected how I feel and how I treat others and my relationship with others. This book outlines in detail the systems of my body and also has many guided prompts and exercises to help me understand myself more. Information is key and I think this book provides what you need to understand what turns your gears and how to move forward with you life and cope with all your stressors. Recommend

Practical, science‑based tools that actually calm the body
This all‑in‑one handbook demystifies polyvagal theory and somatic therapy, then turns the science into bite‑sized routines—breath sets, grounding drills, gentle movement flows, and journaling prompts—that you can slot into a coffee break and still feel the shift from wired to regulated. I appreciated the plain‑English breakdown of how the nervous system toggles between survival and safety, the quick vagus‑nerve resets for “in‑the‑moment” panic, and the more extended weekly plans that build real resilience without overwhelming you.

    very much needed
As a musician recovering from a hospital stay, I’ve felt the effects of nervous system dysregulation first hand…. tight chest, shallow breathing, that overwhelming sense of shutdown. This book has been a total game-changer. It explains the vagus nerve and polyvagal theory in a way that actually makes sense, especially when your body becomes the battleground. I started using some of the somatic techniques, like deep breathwork with huming, and it genuinely helped me feel grounded… more present in my body, more connected to my breath and voice. From a musical point of view, that connection is everything. When your diaphragm is locked or your nervous system is fried, singing or playing becomes a fight. This resource gave me practical tools to re-regulate… not just emotionally, but physically too. It’s become part of my daily practice, like scales or warm-ups, but for my nervous system.

Wonderful healing tool and such a great book!
As someone who’s been on my own healing journey with PTSD and now works as an integrative healer and women’s empowerment coach, understanding trauma and the nervous system is part of my everyday life. I’ve read Y.D. Gardens’ books before and honestly love how they explain things without making it feel complicated or overwhelming. The Complete Somatic Therapy & Polyvagal Theory Toolbox is no different, it’s practical, easy to follow, and actually helps. It breaks down how our nervous system works and gives you simple tools to regulate it, which has been a game-changer for me personally and in the work I do with others. What I appreciate most about this book is how it takes something like Polyvagal Theory, which can sound super scientific and intimidating, and makes it totally relatable. The exercises are straightforward and don’t take a ton of time, but they really work. I’ve already noticed myself feeling more grounded and less reactive in stressful moments, and that’s huge when you’ve spent years living in survival mode. The section on the vagus nerve was probably my favorite. It explains why this nerve is so important for nervous system balance and gives you simple practices to reset it. I’ve tried a lot of different techniques over the years, and these are some of the easiest and most effective ones I’ve found. I also appreciate how the book touches on trauma, PTSD, and how our bodies store those experiences, and how we can release them through somatic work.If you’ve been dealing with stress, anxiety, or trauma and want a better understanding of how to feel safe and grounded in your body, I’d definitely recommend this book. It’s not full of fluff or overly scientific jargon; it’s just real, practical steps that help. For me, it’s become a go-to resource, both for my own healing and for the women I support.

While the book has a lot of information it can be a bit dry and hard to stay focused. However, it has given me a lot of thinking points to do some further research. I am new to somatic therapy so I am just trying to learn as much as I can about it and this is a good start.

This book really dives into healing on a deep somatic level, for anxiety and has tools for transformation. It even talks about the vagus nerve.
