Love it!
I started meditating just in the past few months. I had used another book/guided journal to get started (Practical Meditation for Beginners, 10 Days to a Happier, Calmer You), and it was wonderful, but I felt like I wanted a little more opportunity for guided journaling along my meditation journey.I love this guided journal, both inside and out! The cover and binding are sturdy and very pretty 🙂 I appreciate the intro material, with the why’s and how this all works. I was in the process of also reading Atomic Habits and so that reference in this guided journal was extremely helpful and connected nicely with what I was already looking at.Something I really appreciated in the Meditation Sidekick Journal was the built in flexibility and forgiveness. I had felt that if my meditation time wasn’t as stated in the other book (which is still wonderful!), then I was doing it wrong. If I hadn’t worked my way up to a 15 minute meditation, then I was ready and didn’t deserve to take the next step. I appreciated that the Meditation Sidekick starts meditations with “set your timer for 5, 10, 20, or 30 minutes.” It’s okay to only meditate for a short time! I don’t HAVE to build up to a longer meditation to be worthy to continue on the pathway toward building my meditation practice and try new things!I also emailed the company, not really expecting an answer and worried I’d have unsubscribe from some crazy email list, but I got a real live response, and that was exciting! There are real people behind this who seem to genuinely care about their products and their usefulness!I really like this journal, and I am extremely happy that I started meditating! In just a few months, I’m finding that I can sleep without a shot of whiskey every night, and I don’t even think about drinking, which I used to do quite frequently. If I have a tension headache, meditation can soothe it away. If meditation can’t soothe it, then there’s another reason (like allergies). When I get agitated/anxious/stressed, meditating can help calm me down and bring me to a much better place of peace. I’m better at forgiving people and “letting it go.” This process has been a huge game-changer in my overall quality of life and mental health! My husband says I sound like a new-agey healy-feely freak, which he loves about me, and I do! Which I normally am not. I think that learning about the scientifically shown benefits of mediation, with actual studies and brain imaging, gave me “permission” to try this, since it’s not just witchy-woo-woo stuff, and I’m so glad I did, because it’s a huge deal how different I feel and how much . . . better! everything is!Thank you, Habit Nest team!

Meditation – Quiet Time – Mindfulness wrapped in a playbook. It Works!
I’m been trying to consistently incorporate quiet time into my daily routine. I read a book called “Three Simple Steps” (also recommend) a few years ago, which notes meditation as one of the pillars to a successful/joyful existence. There is also plenty of data now that support meditation as a key reducer of stress…probably the biggest killer of them all. There are plenty of tools in the app store, but it seems contradictory to use a computer to get yourself to embrace meditation. This meditation guide/journal not only gets you on the right track it keeps you there. I like the journal style, which also keeps you journaling at least twice a day. And since it is about your thoughts, you really capture the essence of the day through a list of succinct questions. If you have any interest in medication get this journal! It works.

Great for kickstarting my meditation habit!
I’ve been trying on and off to build a meditation habit for almost four years. I recently discovered Habit Nest’s Sidekick journals and thought I’d give their meditation journal a shot. Since I started using the book, I haven’t missed a day! I haven’t finished it yet, but I’m feeling the best I have so far about my meditation habit, and the accountability of reflecting and writing about each day’s meditation is really keeping me going. The first week included guided meditations for every day introducing various types of meditation, and at the end of those, the book recommended an awesome meditation app called Insight Timer, which I now use for my daily meditation. As if the structure of the book itself wasn’t enough to merit buying, there’s also a community of other Habit Nest journal owners all supporting each other. I’ve enjoyed reading about other people’s progress through their journals and sharing some of my ups and downs.I’ve already ordered three other Habit Nest journals, and I’m hoping they come out with Evening and Budgeting journals, too. I’m very hopeful that their journals will finally help me kickstart a few habits I’ve been struggling with for years!

Great for beginners
This is my first time attempting any sort of meditation consistently, and this journal has been awesome. I keep it by my bed and it’s a reminder to do a few minutes of meditation a day – it really helps me to stay centered and focused. I’ve also been pretty consistent, and the “journaling” aspect helps with that.I also appreciate the connection to other sources where you can get guided meditations or meditation music. The journal provides you with a number of resources and methods so that you can develop what your own meditation practice looks like.I definitely recommend this book for people who are trying to build a habit. My life is in an incredibly hectic stage, but this journal reminds me to take a few minutes a day to unwind. It’s been super helpful!

I adore this journal, but…
I so badly want to give this journal 5 stars, but it does have errors in the grammer (which is easy enough to overlook), and personally- the 1st week of guided meditations aren’t great. I wish they would have gotten someone else to do the meditations. BUT I love that they recommend the Insight Timer app. It is an amazing app! Be sure to read the full intro before starting! The introduction of the book is very well laid out and got me motivated to get into meditation. The babysteps guiding you into meditation helps a lot too. It greatly helps my anxiety and depression! I have already recommended this journal to others because I truely feel that this is a great start and really helps lay down the ground work for a healthy practice.

I have been using this journal for 7 days straight and I have to say that I really like it! Everyday there is new content and tricks to help build a new habit. There is a bunch of written content, so, for someone who doesn’t like to read it might not be good, but it’s a part that I personally like a lot. Also, because it is a journal, writing everyday help me check my progress. In the past, I did try to build an habit to meditate everyday with free apps, but it is really easy to skip and just not do it. Because that journal is physical, every time I see it, it reminds me to meditate and to the well being it brings me. Also just for information, there’s no guided meditation for everyday in the book, only for few days.

I’ve meditated before but never written about the experience after, this helps me see the progress! When I flick back to the earlier pages I can see the positive difference in my internal dialog and how it has changed in only a few weeks consistent meditation.

This is such a fantastic journal not only to start your meditation journey but to help you make and keep small promises to yourself every day. It’s tough to build new habits and the dialogue is extremely useful, especially for getting through ‘hell week’ (aka the first 7 days). I have a long way to go but this journal is helping me to give myself a break, even if it is only for 5 minutes a day. By being still, you can reflect and this journal helps you to get in touch with your inner dialogue and understand your ‘why’. Highly recommend.

I have been using the journal as a way to motivate my meditation practice, and I am enjoying it. The journal starts without about 50 pages of lead-in/background information, which was a bit much for me, but once I got to the actual journal portion, I have found the daily pages to be easily digestible and helpful in guiding my practice.I mostly meditate for improved focus, and I had been looking for a way to stay accountable to myself in keeping consistent with meditation. This journal has been more effective than an app I tried previously, and I am glad I bought it.
