The best thing I’ve taken for multiple reasons – including ACDF surgery recovery
I’ll be frank, I have been taking collagen protein powder for about a year now. I started out taking it to help with a leaky gut problem I was having from taking too many Ibuprophen. The reason for that was I was having multiple issues with joint and neck pain. I was initially just taking a powder with just 3 types collagen. Shortly after I started I had to have a 3 level Anterior Cervical Dystectomy with Fusion and I was taken off most of my supplements waiting to clear for surgery. Once I did and the surgery was over (big success by the way) I restarted using collagen protein to help encourage bone growth and healing. 3 weeks after my initial surgery I was put back in the hospital with an infection and underwent 4 more surgeries to clean the wound, harness and bone followed by 5 weeks of twice daily IV therapy with strong antibiotics (no cultures grew anything specific to treat so they treated for everything, not fun.) I survived and was able to start putting collagen powder in my morning coffee once again. And then I read that I really needed to be taking all 5 types of collagen to give myself the best support for growing bone. So, I’ve tried some more expensive, some less expensive and I finally came across Renew. So many good reviews that I decided to switch brands and I haven’t looked back. For one thing, this dissolves the best of any I’ve taken in the last year. And it doesn’t have a funky smell or taste, (none I’ve used have had that problem but I felt it needed saying too) and while I can’t give it all the credit for my recovery, my now non-existent knee pain, my healed gut, my glowing skin, thicker, fuller longer hair that the patients at the chiropractic clinic I work for commented on and still comment on, I can say that I have benefited from drinking collagen powder and that of the several I’ve used, I definitely like this one the best. I’m not quite at a year since my last surgery but it can take 12 -18 months before bone growth actually shows up on an x-ray, but I feel confident that I’ve given myself the best thing I could have given to myself to have a successful fusion and I’m pretty confident that come November, my x-rays will show that I did. I’m 60 years old and can pass for early 40’s, that’s about 10 extra years younger than what I passed for before I started taking the powder. It works really well folks, it’s not an over night fix. But the reality is, starting in just a few weeks you can notice small changes that multiply to bigger changes the longer you use collagen powder. Give it at least 3 months and you will be glad you did.

The smell is pretty much odorless and I usually pair it with coffee or an smoothie. With joint support, I feel that it does help my legs get stronger but you still feel joint pain like after a workout. Between the pros and cons, i don’t feel it did anything to strength my immune system. But what I love about this powder is that my hair feels young again and my nails are healthier. Ever since I was little, I always have issues with my front scalp being too dry and I don’t have a dry scalp problem anymore since I started taking this product.
